1 Gas Statistics in Myanmar 24~26 September,2012 Beijing,China International Workshop on Energy Statistics Presented by Tin Zaw Myint Deputy Director Energy Planning Department Ministry of Energy

2 Energy is an essential driving force for achieving social and economic development and an improve quality of life. Energy resources in Myanmar are biomass, hydropower, coal, crude oil, natural gas, geothermal, wind, solar, bio- fuel and biogas etc. The country’s energy policy is - * to maintain the status of energy independence; * to promote wider use of new and renewable sources of energy; * to promote energy efficiency and conservation; * to promote use of alternative fuels in household; * to implement Effective Utilization of Discovered Crude Oil and Natural Gas Resources in the Interest of the Entire Nation including the Regions where the Discovery was made ; and * to promote more Private Participation.

3 Petroleum Electricity Coal Renewable Energy MINISTRY OF ENERGY MINISTRY OF ELECTRIC POWER MINISTRY OF MINES MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND FORESTRY MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND IRRIGATION MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY *Ministry of Energy is a Focal Point of the Myanmar Energy Sector Cooperation in the Region Biomass and Fuelwood Institutional Framework
