Present Wind farms in UK First wind farm in the UK was built at Delabole in November 1991. In 2007, approximately 1.5% of UK electricity was generated by wind power. As of May 1 2009 there are 211 operational wind farms in the UK, with 2,434 turbines and 3,391 MW of installed capacity. 17 February 2010, £30m turbine test facility to be built at Blyth 25 February 2010, Ministers pledge £18.5m for offshore wind energy site.
