Weather Fronts
2
The boundary between 2 air masses that have different temperatures, humidity's, pressures.
3
Fronts – 4 types possible; 1. Cold Front: Cold air pushes under warm air forcing it up.
4
Warm air rises. Cold air replaces the warm air.
5
Violent storms are associated with cold fronts.
6
2. Warm Fronts: Warm air overtakes a cold air mass & moves over it.
7
Rain showers usually accompany a warm front.
8
3. Occluded Front: Cool air masses from both sides meet. Warm air caught in the middle gets pushed up.
10
4. Stationary front: Cold air meets warm air & no movement occurs. This can cause wind and rain for many days.
