Renewable Energy Status for Saudi Arabia Saudi’s solar thermal energy of up to 2,550 KWH per m2 per year (twice the average solar irradiation in Europe). KA-CARE was Established in 2010 to develop a future sustainable alternative energy in the Kingdom. Aim to meet % of Saudi Arabia’s energy needs from renewable energy by 2020. KACST is building a 30,000 m3/day solar-powered seawater desalination plant in Al-Kharfji. PTC (Polysilicon Technology Company) is building a 7,500 tons per year high-quality polysilicon plant in Jubail. IDEA Polysilicon Company project in Yanbu to produce 10,000 tons/year polysilicon, 20 million wafers & 19 million solar cells per year. Saudi Aramco is building a 10 MW photovoltaic solar carport system in the Dhahran office complex. SEC has launched a solar power plant of an annual production of 864,000 KWH per year on Farasan Island. RC-Yanbu Solar Energy Initiatives RC-Yanbu Solar Energy Initiatives
