DOL H2P Grant Overview Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant (TAACCCT) Three Year, $19.6 Million Grant (October 2011 – October 2014) Focus on Healthcare – Education and Training for Students and Incumbent Workers – Career Pathways and Stackable Credentials Ten Community Colleges – Two each in KY, MN, OH, and TX plus one in Chicago and one in DC – Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is Lead College – Both Rural Focus and Metropolitan Focus – Colleges on State Borders Local Partners – Employers, Workforce Centers, Community Organizations, ABE, K-12 Districts, and 4-Year Colleges – Healthcare Alliance National Partners – Office of CC Research and Leadership, Technical Institute of Excellence in STEM, National Network of Health Career Programs in CC, and National Association of Workforce Boards – American Medical Association, Hospital Corporation of America, and Kindred Healthcare

DOL H2P Grant Objectives Consortium Goals Provide trade-impacted and low-skilled workers with adequate preparation, support, and opportunities to complete post-secondary training in health professions that provide credentials aligned with job advancement. Expand and enhance the healthcare workforce with the competencies needed by industry. Build the capacity of community colleges to continuously assess student and employment outcomes and use this information to improve the quality of health professions programs.

DOL H2P Grant Objectives Pine Technical College Actions Aligned to Strategies Online Assessment and Career Guidance – Utilize VCN (Virtual Career Network) or similar platforms for on-line career guidance and prior learning assessment Competency-Based Core Curriculum – Revise and enhance our existing Healthcare Core Curriculum Contextualized Developmental Education – Incorporate contextualized developmental education components into our Healthcare Core Curriculum Industry-Recognized Stackable Credentials – Develop and implement Medical Assisting A.A.S. Program plus EKG, Limited Scope X-Ray Operator, and Phlebotomy Certificates

Student Retention and Success – Support (Monetary or In-Kind) for Students Is it available from Workforce Centers, Community Organizations, and/or Foundations? Can we get Matching Funds from National Organizations? Data and Accountability Systems – Access to Records: Student, Workforce, and Employee Records How do we access confidential records? How do we share information across state lines?
