What is MOE? § 300.203 An LEA complies with Maintenance of Effort for purposes of establishing the LEAs eligibility for an award for a fiscal year if the LEA budgets for the education of children with disabilities, at least the same or total or per capita amount from either local funds or the combination of state and local funds as the LEA spent for the education of children with disabilities for the most recent prior year for which information is available. To Paraphrase: MOE means the district spent the same (or greater) amount of local and state funds on special education as it did the previous year.
