Nickel Gabby Goodfellow

Nickel Symbol : Ni Atomic Number: 28 Atomic Mass: Boiling Point: 3186k Melting Point: 1728k Density: 8.917

How it got it’s name? The name nickel comes from the German word nickel which means old nick. Old nick is also a name for the devil… Nickel can cause an adverse skin reaction

The most abundunt physical state of nickel is oxidation. Number of protons: 20 Number of electrons: 28 Number of neutrons: 31

Nickel Number of Valence electrons: 2 Element group: 2 Element period: 4 Common isotopes:14 Nickel is the 24 th most abundant element found In the world. Can be found in sulphide ores underground

Nickel Color of the element: Silver Odor of the element: None Nickel is a transition metal (groups 3-12)

Electron Configurations: 1s2, 2s2, 2p6, 3s2, 3p6, 4s2, 3d5 Element group: 10 Element Period: 4 Elements usual charge +2

Axel Frechik Crohslent A Sweetish chemist who studied maths at Uppsala Nickel was the only thing he proved to have found Introduced a new classification system for metals

What is nickel used for? Nickel is used to make: Stainless steal Tubbing for fish tanks Coins Protective coating for other metals
