DIVERSITY = RESPECT By Leah Lugo
Diversity means to me:
Issues Within Diversity
Civil Rights
Equal Rights Many people throughout history have taken a stand for equality in education. As educators today, we need to do the same.
LGBTQ- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning
Many students today suffer from depression because of their sexual identity. This, along with bullying, leads to: Dropouts Suicide Running away/homelessness
Gender Equality
Gender Norms Gender roles have played a part for far too long in determining one’s happiness. In education today, we need PEOPLE strong in Math and Science, no matter what gender. As educators we need to encourage individuality, and not encourage following “the norms”.
Skin Color
Skin Shades Skin color has been used for many years to segregate humans into groups. It even affects people within their own race and causes bullying, depression and lack of self- esteem. As educators, we need to show children that they are all beautiful, no matter what shade. Skin color has been used for many years to segregate humans into groups. Eco Justice
Justice for Our Planet Plants and animals do not have a voice, so we must be their voice! We must conserve this planet in order to educate future generations. As educators we must promote a focus on: recycling, conserving, composting, not littering, not polluting, and saving animals from cruelty.
RESPECT We all want it... Our mission is to SHOW IT. Teach DIVERSITY ! ! !
