Presentation transcript:

1.To begin click: File, New, then select Design 2.Next change the view to 2D.

3. Draw a straight line down the page, use the line tool, and hold SHIFT to force the line straight, 4. Over the workplane click right mouse button (RMB) and click New Sketch. 5. When the box appears call it ‘Profile’. 6. Now using the line tool, and the curve tool draw yourself a profile, it can be any shape you wish. Eg. 7. To complete the shape, draw another line the whole length of the object over the first line, the object will become coloured when it is a solid shape.

8. Now click on ‘Revolve Profile.’ 9. When the box appears, make sure ‘Add material’ is ticked, inside the Angle box type in 360. This relates to the amount of degrees your shape will curve out into a 3D shape. 10. Click ok.

11. You should now have a 3D shape. Click 3D view to see it and use arrow keys to turn it around. 12. Now this is set, in the top left, click the ‘workplane’ drag down box, and select ‘features’. This allows you to see the extrusions or revolutions you have made. 13. Right click on the revolution, and click ‘redefine’ 14. When the box appears, try changing the angle to a lower amount than Click ok.

1.To begin click: File, New, then select Design Now we are going to project the profile instead of rotating it. Save your previous file and close it.

2. Start by drawing a small circle in the centre of the workplane. 3. Now select the ‘select workplanes’ button 4. Now carefully select the workplane which is vertical, it will light orange once selected. 5. Over the workplane click right mouse button (RMB) and select ‘New Sketch’ 6. When the box appears call the sketch, ‘Path’. 7. Click OK

8. Next change the view to 2D. 9. Use the line tool to draw a shape, starting in the centre of the page, and therefore the centre of the circle drawn previously.

10. Next change the view to 3D. 11. At this point you should consider if the circle needs changing in size, if it does, use the dimension tool to change it. 12. Now click on ‘Sweep Profile.’ 13. When the box appears, make sure the ‘Sketch to use as profile’ is called ‘initial’ and the ‘Sketch to use as path’ is called ‘Path’. You can select them from the drag down boxes. 14. Click OK.

Complete, this may have seemed complicated, however it is a great method of making complex shapes with bar sections.
