Abraham Lincoln He had republican values. Lincoln was very skeptical of a God but did at some points seem to believe in God. Lincoln loved to read and credits much of his success to this. Lincoln valued his family and when his son died went through depression. Believed that slavery should be abolished. Lincoln suffered greatly from depression and even talked of suicide at one point in his life. He had depression all his life and had a very Gloomy perspective on life. He was the President of the United States and is one of the mist famous. He led the United States through the civil war. He was a lawyer in Illinois. He delivered the Gettysburg Address.

Fought the AAU to allow professional athletes to compete in the Olympics. He also lived in a trailer and had to live off food stamps. At one time held every long distance American record. Believed “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift. Valued winning and wanted to win every race and he worked very hard to become great. Is an inspiration for many runners.
