Presentation transcript:

Boreal Forest Dense evergreen forests AKA Northern coniferous forest Spruce and fir trees, small shrubs. Animals: Birds, moose, beavers, deer, wolverines, lynx.

Temperate Forest Mostly broad-leaved deciduous trees that shed leaves in the Fall. Oak, beech, maple trees, and shrubs. Animals: Squirrels, rabbits, skunks, birds, deer, foxes, black bears, frogs, snakes. Seasons.

Temperate Woodland and Shrubland Open woodlands and mixed shrub communities. Less rainfall than temperate forest. Evergreens, shrubs. Animals: Foxes, jackrabbits, birds, bobcats, coyotes, lizards, snakes, butterflies.

Temperate Grassland Fertile soil with thick cover of grasses. Grasses, herbs, flowers. Animals: Gazelles, bison, horses, lions, deer, mice, coyotes, foxes, wolves, birds, snakes, grasshoppers, spiders.

Desert Evaporation exceeds precipitation. Cacti, Joshua trees, succulents Animals: lizards, bobcats, birds, tortoises, rats, antelope, desert toads.

Tropical Savanna Grasses and scattered trees. Animals: Lions, hyenas, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, birds, insects.

Tropical Seasonal Forest Resembles the temperate deciduous forest. Deciduous and evergreen trees, orchids, mosses. Elephants, tigers, monkeys, koalas, rabbits, frogs, spiders. Rainfall is seasonal.

Tropical Rainforest Warm temperatures and large amounts of rainfall. Broadleaf evergreens, bamboo, ferns, orchids. Animals: Chimpanzees, Bengal tigers, elephants, orangutans, bats, toucans, sloths, cobra snakes.

Mountains Abiotic factors and biotic factors change as altitude increases. Tundra and coniferous forests near the top. Deciduous forest near the bottom.

Polar Regions Covered in ice. Seals, penguins, shrimp, whales, polar bears, foxes and fish.
