Embedded Advertising/ Product Placement
Product Placement Product Placement refers to products or background signage embedded in media. In 1989 Congress got a tip that Phillip Morris had paid to place its Marlboro brand in the youth films Superman I & II. Big Tobacco used product placement to market smoking throughout the '80's -- even in G- and PG- rated films that children watch.
Product Integration Product Integration refers to dialogue, scenes and whole storylines that are embedded in entertainment content in exchange for a fee. When NBC's "Chuck" was on the chopping block, Subway pitched in to save the series in return for deep integration in the story line.
