UIL Spelling Meeting Remind Texts: to 81010

Upcoming Dates Student Conference: Sam Houston State University (November 7 th ) Invitational A: Willis High School (January 16 th ) Invitational B: Magnolia High School (February 13 th ) District Meet: Waller High School (April 2 nd ) Region Meet: Magnolia High School (April 23 rd ) State Meet: University of Texas at Austin (May 23 rd -25 th )

In order to join my team… Have your parents sign the drug testing form and permission slip Bring $5 for a t-shirt Attend weekly meetings Attend ONE invitational meet (you will take the tests for both meets) Study your spelling words

The Spelling Test Part I: A fifteen minute section of 30 multiple choice questions focused on vocabulary and proofreading, and Part II & III: The written spelling of 70 words pronounced aloud to contestants. Eighty percent of the test will come from the UIL “Word Power” list that changes each year. Twenty percent will come from outside sources, such as commonly used words, proper names/words in the news, and words that are representative of important elements of the English language.
