Personnel and Equipment Equipment – 25 Pieces of equipment 17 Linn County 8 Benton County – 2 chip spreaders (one for backup) – 4 rollers (2 pneumatic, 2 steel drum) – 3 sweepers – 1 loader – 15 trucks
Peoria Road miles x 30 feet wide = 287,790 sq./yds. – To be chip sealed, swept, fog sealed, and center line striped in 5 days 16 super tankers of 32 tons per tanker 3.5 super tankers of CRS truck loads of 3/8”-#10 crushed rock – 1 truck loaded every 3.42 minutes (for 8 hours)
2013 CHIP SEAL SCHEDULE
The Way It Happened Day 1: Chip sealed 8.18 miles Day 2: Swept first half and chip sealed second half – 8.17 miles (Total miles) Day 3: Fog sealed first half while second half was being swept. Marked center line on first half. Day 4: Started moving equipment. Striped first half while second half was fog sealed and center line was marked behind fog seal. Day 5: Finished striping center line and fog lines.
How did it happen? The project was well planned The two crews became one team Everyone was well trained and professional Everyone gave 100% There were good lines of communication There were very few mechanical failures The contracted distributor drivers and delivery drivers did a good job The road was clean and properly prepared and we had clean rock and good emulsion
Summary The two crews became one team. Both counties had the personnel and equipment they needed for their projects. Both counties completed their projects on or ahead of time. Personnel were able to exchange ideas and experiences. The project was a complete success and we intend to work together again next year.
