Breathing Breathing- (aka ventilation), The process through which the respiratory system moves air into and out of the lungs. In contrast, Respiration.
Respiratory System Revision.
1.2.3: A healthy, active lifestyle and your respiratory system L.O 1.Understand the structure of the lungs 2.Understand the function of the respiratory.
Respiration. How does respiration take place? There are two respiratory movements: Inspiration (inhalation) Expiration (exhalation) When you inhale, air.
Respiratory System. The respiratory system is the system of the body that brings in oxygen from the air and takes away carbon dioxide. –The body needs.
Mechanism of Breathing
Respiratory System.
Respiratory System IN comes the OXYGEN, OUT goes the CARBON DIOXIDE!
Respiratory System.
 The function of the respiratory system is gas exchange. It makes sure the body has a steady supply of oxygen while it disposes of carbon dioxide.
Respiratory System. Respiratory system/functions Nose: air enters Nose: air enters –Hairs block or trap dust and unwanted objects Nasal passage: warms.

Chapter 33.3: The Respiratory System
Respiratory System Breathing Is the movement of air into and out of the lungs Allows your respiratory system to take in oxygen and eliminate carbon.
The Respiratory System. What is the Purpose? The respiratory system allows oxygen to enter the blood and carbon dioxide to exit the blood. We would not.
Twenty Questions Subject: Respiration. Twenty Questions
30.1 Respiratory and Circulatory Functions The respiratory and circulatory systems bring oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM provides oxygen to the cells and removes carbon dioxide from the body. works closely with circulatory system. made of following.
The Respiratory System
Oxygen carbon dioxide The respiratory system is the system of the body that deals with breathing. When we breath, the body takes in the oxygen it needs.
 The respiratory system uses many parts for breathing in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide.  These include the nose, the trachea, and the lungs.
Respiratory System. Function of the Lungs  Supplies oxygen to the blood by inhaling. This oxygen is then carried to all the cells of the body.  Removes.
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM Main Function: Exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide between the blood, air & tissues.
Functions of the Respiratory System Brings oxygen in from the environment for our body cells, and removes carbon dioxide waste. Main components: – Nose.

Breathing Process

Main Function Gas exchange - Inhale Oxygen / Exhale Carbon Dioxide Diaphragm = Major muscle of breathing Contracts during inhaling Relaxes during exhaling

Inhaling Oxygen enters trachea & inflates lungs Requires energy Intercostal muscles contract to increase lung capacity; Diaphragm contracts

Exhaling Carbon Dioxide is forced out from the lungs Passive Intercostal muscle relax; Diaphragm relaxes, moves upward & pushes air out Only requires energy when a respiratory disease is present

Chest Tube Hollow, flexible tube that acts as a drain Pt. Conditions Post-op Pneumothorax Fluid in the lung
