Natural Phenomena By: Keyla / 6B

What Is a Natural Phenomena Natural phenomenon is an event that happened not because of human actions. Some of these natural phenomena can impact humans and animals, it can make people act weirdly, make dogs hound, increase criminal and hospital activities and etc.

What is a Blue Moon? Moon is a natural satellite of Earth, for it to make one full rotation it needs 28 days. Earth and all other moons have names, our moon is called Luna. The moon made many natural phenomena and one of it is The Blue Moon. Blue moon is a type of moon that appear every 2-3 years. It happened because of the chemical reactions in the earth’s atmosphere, for it to happen it needs 13 full moons in one calendar year. A blue moon is the second full moon that happened in a certain month.

Blue Moon Causes The blue moon doesn’t actually looks blue, it is very rare for it to look like that, most blue moons are actually red in color. Blue moon happened because of 1883, the volcano named Krakatoa exploded. Scientists said that the blast is like a 100- megaton nuclear bomb. 600 km away people can hear the noise as loud as a cannon shot. Many ash rose to the very top of Earth's atmosphere, and because of the chemical reaction the moon turned blue.

How does the Blue Moon Happen The blue moon rarely happen, it only happen around 2-3 years once, for it to happened it needs 13 full moons in one year.

How the Blue Moon Impact Humans life The blue moon can impact humans life by making myths, legends, stories and folklores. People say when a full moon or a blue moon happened witches will ride around, people will shape shift into werewolves, and there will be a good weather for cropping. People also belief that if a women who stare and lay under the full/blue moon’s moonlight, that women will become pregnant, but some people say that the baby will become a monster. They also belief that if a young girl holds a silk hankie at the face of a full moon wanting to know when will she be pregnant, the number of moons appearing will show how many years she will wait to be pregnant. The blue moon also can inspire people to make great movies like the Smurfs.
