Presentation transcript:

Making your mark… “I want to put a ding in the universe.” – Steve Jobs “You have only a short period of time in your life to make your mark, and I’m there now.” – George Clooney “Why waste your life sitting around? Make a mark on the world, show them you CAN. Don’t let people tell you how to live your life! Shine BRIGHT and show them EVERYTHING is possible!” – Kenzie Monohan “Life is a unique opportunity to explore, create, and give.” – Dr. Laura Schlessinger “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” – Albert Einstein

Making your mark… President Barack Obama once said, “Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. It’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.”

Making your mark posters “What does ‘make your mark’ mean?” How do you make your mark, or envision making your mark, at home, in your neighborhood, in your community to contribute to making a stronger society, and world? On the back of your poster paper, brainstorm a list of at least 8 ways you “make your mark” – I encourage you to add more! Color your “world” poster how you see fit (crayons, markers, colored pencils). Neatness counts! This will be hung on the wall in our room, so take pride in your work! Use the lines around the “world” to write the ways you make your mark (you may write these however you’d like but we will be cutting the world out in the shape of a circle). Write neatly and large enough for people to be able to read your examples easily. Print out a small photo to go in the center of your world (this may be black and white or color) Add your name either at the top or bottom of the world (name should be written in line with the curve of the world) Extras: add quotes or phrases that reflect “how you will make your mark on society” Your poster must be colored! Cut out and mount on construction paper! Hang on the wall in our room for parent night!
