Physical Fitness Definition Physical fitness is the ability to be physically active. A person is physically fit if he or she can pass tests designed to measure physical performance. Such tests are necessary for some occupations, such as soldiers and firefighters.

Components of Physical Fitness Skill Related These are the factors that are related to how well the systems of your body work. Health Related Those aspects of fitness which form the basis for successful sports activity participation.

Skill Related Components Speed: The ability to move quickly from one point to another in a straight line. (Ex: Punch Power) Agility: The ability of the body to change direction quickly. (Ex: Cone Drill) Balance: The ability to maintain an upright posture while still or moving. (Ex: Crane/Tree Poses) Coordination: Integration with hand and/or foot movements with the input of the senses. (Ex: Arm Circles) Reaction Time: Amount of time it takes to get moving. (Ex: Bounce and Catch a Ball against a wall) Power: The ability to do strength work at an explosive pace. (Ex: Punch Power)

Health Related Components Cardiovascular Fitness: The ability of the circulatory system (heart and blood vessels) to supply oxygen to working muscles during exercise. (Ex: Sprinting/Running) Body Composition: The relative percentage of body fat compared to lean body mass. (Ex: Butt Kicks) Flexibility: The range of movement possible at various joints. (Ex: Sit and Reach) Muscular strength: The amount of force that can be produced by a single contraction of a muscle. (Ex: Crunches) Muscular endurance: The ability of a muscle group to continue muscle movement over a length of time. (Ex: Superman’s Pose)

What is the role of physical fitness in the development and attainment of a healthy lifestyle? Physical fitness helps people to be fit and helps them become more healthy. Being physically fit means being healthy. It makes you become a happier and healthier person.

How does physical fitness contribute to the development of an individual? Physical Fitness contributes to us by being a big factor in out body’s growth. Following these exercises in the presentation will help you attain a healthy lifestyle. This also helps you to have a proper diet.
