BACKGROUND INFORMATION Six-Day War, also called June War or Third Arab-Israeli War, brief war that took place June 5–10, 1967, and was the third of the Arab-Israeli wars. Israel’s decisive victory included the capture of the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, Old City of Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights; the status of these territories subsequently became a major point of contention in the Arab-Israeli conflict.Arab-Israeli warsIsraelSinai Peninsula Gaza StripWest BankJerusalem Golan Heights The Second Intifada, commonly referred to as the Al- Aqsa Intifada or the second uprising, began in late 2000 as a result of Israeli occupation policies that not only continued to violate international law but to deprive Palestinians of their basic human rights.
CONFLICT Nature: International conflict – Middle East war, when Israel seized the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and East Jerusalem, wresting the land from the Arabs. International conflict – bombing of the Zionist bus by Hamza Samudi. Causes of Conflict: Hamza Samudi drove a vehicle filled with homemade explosives up to the bus filled with 17 people and blew himself up, killing himself and every body on the bus except for the bus driver to mark the thirty-fifth anniversary of the Middle East War Reactions: Palestinian prisoners in the cells heard the explosion and cheered. Orthodox Jewish volunteers hunted for pieces of human flesh, gathering every last piece of human body for a proper burial. Resolutions: It was not resolved, in 2002, suicide bombers came to Jerusalem by day and at night, Israeli tanks seized Palestinian turf in the West Bank.
CONFLICT Nature: Interpersonal/physical conflict. – Israeli husbands battered and killed their wives. Causes: After September 11, Israel said to America, “now you know what terror means” Reactions: the countries became more violent, the use of sedatives rose and rapes and suicides of American soldiers Resolutions: you can overcome things that are done to you but you cannot overcome things that you do. Even after the war, the soldiers who were not killed or were not a victim of suicide will come home, but they bring home the killers they became on our national behalf. Therefore even if the conflict of war is resolved as the war ends. The inner conflict inside the soldiers will never disappear. “You can’t build a wall and expect to live on the other side of a memory.
