Canadian Universities -University system similar to US -Easier application process than the US -Canada is officially French/English bilingual -Costs can be lower than for studies in the US

University system similar to US  4 year program to obtain a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Equivalence with degrees in the US. In principle, equivalent to French L3, but in practice, no formal recognition.  Wide choice of subjects over the first two years with specialisation over the last 2 years.  Large campuses with lots of student residents and lots of organised social activities.

Applying to Canadian University: easier than the US  Online application in the beginning of Terminale  Based essentially on lycée grades, and package prepared by the teachers explaining the program and teacher’s recommendation  Final acceptation may be contingent on obtaining Baccalaréat grade consistent with previous academic performance  No requirement for SAT test  No limit to the number of Universities you apply to, but each charges a fee of Canadian $ (40-80€)

Costs Living costs for academic year (8 months): Dormitory room, meals, Secu, etc: ≈11,000 CAN$ (≈8,250€). Round-trip plane ticket: €. Tuition (frais d’inscriptions): Québec for the French: same tuition fees as for the Québecois = less expensive than for non-Québecois Canadians! University de Montréal: Québecois: ≈2300$ (≈1725€); Canadian: ≈5200$; International students: ≈15,000$ McGill: Québecois: ≈3500$ (≈2625€); Canadian: 7100$; International: 25000$ Canada Anglophone: Canadian: ≈8500$ (6500€); International: ≈29,000$ (22,000€) US state school : U. of Washington Seattle- state resident: 10,000 US$ (7800€) Non-resident: 28,000$ (22,000€)

Financial Aid Specific for each university Small number of merit scholarships Need-based financial aid: usually a combination of scholarship + deferred low-interest student loan and part-time work on the campus.
