POPAnything A Universal POP3 and SMTP Service to retrieve any web bases into pop3 supporting client like outlook

Why PopAnything? – Wouldn’t you like to download your yahoo mails from yahoo site onto your local mailbox? Internet FREE Pop3 enabled server like gmail Pop3 Client Port 21 Server where Pop3 service is blocked like yahoo Port 80 PopAnything Port 80 Port 21 Emulates Pop3 Server Emulates HTTP Browser The good The bad

Other advantages Virtually any mail site can be pop’d and smtp’d. It is just about writing extension for that site. Corporate ease of use. Typically in corporate world you will never have 110 and 25 ports open for you. Thus we would not be able to utilize the pop3 facility from free pop3 site like Gmail. PopAnything comes handy in such scenarios since it uses port 80 for all sorts of communication. Port 80 is typically always accessible (at least though authenticated proxy) in corporate network. This is not done before?? Let me tell you that this is been done before.. By many people. E.g. webmail project on mozilla / Hotpop service for hotmail, YPops service for yahoo, Mr.Postman library, etc. Then why am I doing it? Because a. they are not universal service providers (support only one client eg. Webmail project on mozilla supports only thunderbird.) b. they are not single library for all site e.g. YPops serves only Yahoo. My intension is to come up with a library for as many mail sites as I can and it should be able to serve any kind of POP3 client (at least thunderbird, outlook and outlook express) Choice of java language for coding should help in attaining OS independence. But it is a lower priority task right now.
