Proposed Energy Star New Homes Deemed Savings – Interior Ducts & HVAC April 10, 2007

Deemed Savings for Interior Ducts & HVAC Assumptions Lighting Package –Baseline – 1.75 watts/sf –Energy Star – 1.1 watts/sf –Lighting “Realization” – % of installed wattage reduction 5% removal 5% takeback Duct Leakage –Baseline – 12% supply side, 10% return side –Energy Star – 6 % supply side, 5% return side (PTCS) –Energy Star - No duct leakage (Interior ducts & HVAC)

Current and Proposed Energy Star Homes Deemed Savings – Heat Pump

Current and Proposed Energy Star Homes Deemed Savings – Gas FAF w/o CAC

Current and Proposed Energy Star Homes Deemed Savings – Gas FAF w/CAC

Current and Revised Energy Star Homes Deemed Savings - Zonal

Implementation Issues Specification for Energy Star “Interior Ducts and HVAC” –Require all ducts and air handler inside conditioned space –Require PTCS duct sealing to reduce potential moisture problems –Other? Eligibility for “interior” savings limited to homes with crawlspaces (i.e., basement homes in-eligible)
