Anti-Trust Laws Who has seen the movie, “ You’ve Got Mail”? What is the premise of the film?

Objective Know the definitions and differences between collusions and cartels. Know the definition and rationale for anti- trust laws Write a one page editorial on a current anti-trust situation.

Collusions Situation in which firms acting together rather than separately.

Cartels A formal organization of firms in the same industry acting together to make decisions.

Anti-Trust Laws Trust: A huge corporation; grows because rivals merge. Anti-Trust Laws: Laws intended to prevent monopolies from developing and to strengthen competition.

Read & analyze article “Plucky Little Competitors” What type of business organization are these small companies? What advantages do the large corporations have? How have these small competitors maintained their market?

Editorial Assignment One page minimum typed. Normal fonts and normal margins. Clearly integrate and cite one literary source. A strong editorial should emphasize your own perspective on the issue.
