SAQs It’s been a while so here are some reminders. Short Answer Questions generally have multiple parts. Each part is answered in a paragraph. This paragraph is kind of like a subtopic in an LEQ: -Topic sentence that responds to the questions -SPECIFIC evidence that you briefly explain.

What is good about SAQs? It does not take a long time, like an LEQ. You give your specific evidence, explain it and you are done. What is hard about an SAQ? You have to know an appropriate piece of evidence and be able to explain it. You have to answer the question with an appropriate response. You have to answer ALL PARTS of the question (if they ask for two reasons, give two)

Example SAQ Explain TWO reforms made by monarchs in the 18 th century and connect to Enlightened principles. Religious tolerance – Joseph II – Voltaire Getting rid of capital punishment – Frederick the Great- Beccaria

Religion and AP Euro: Where are we going? Where have we been? In order to do some mid-semester AP Review and also to practice the idea of “continuity and change” we are going to look at a topic that is addressed a lot in the early part of our course: Religion.

1.Label a piece of binder paper: Assignment #1 – Religion Review 2.Make a space for Renaissance, Reformation, Absolutism, Enlightenment ideals – this can be a four pronged chart. Tomorrow we will look at religion in the 18 th century 3.With your group, discuss and fill in the first four columns: WHAT CHANGES AND WHAT STAYS THE SAME? This should take a bit: review orally and you can also flip through your textbook. 3.Read together the section on page 681 about Protestant Revival and Catholic Pietism. Discuss and take notes in the 18 th Century Section.
