He was born on March 22, 1948, in South Kensington in London, England. The first son of William Lloyd Webber, an organist and composer. His mother, Jean Johnstone, was a pianist and violinist. Young Andrew Lloyd Webber learned to play various musical instruments at home and began composing at an early age.

In 1956, Andrew went to Westminster School - one of the oldest and most respected schools in London. At school, Lloyd Webber was fond of history and architecture.

In 1965 Andrew Lloyd Webber received a letter from Tim Rice - the young poet. And this historical meeting of two young men has begun one of the most talented and successful creative duos in the history of musical theater.
