Do Now… Think about how authors create visuals in our minds as we read. How can graphics and real visuals improve AND interfere with a reader’s comprehension? They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

We do this by focusing on their words and actions, as well as comments by other characters in these difficult situations. Today, We begin think about what the various components of chapters 1-5 and how our understanding of Percy (the protagonist) and his quest, how he is changing, and how our secondary characters will impact his journey. We begin to think about how the author uses specific crafts that contribute to understanding of the text and helps readers make insightful discoveries.
