Curriculum Connection Oceans 11 Outcomes:  OSM-1 identify oceans and related water areas in the world  OSM-2 analyse the basic structure of the Earth’s waters  FISH-5 explain the dynamic interrelationship between the physical environment, the biological environment, and the health and distribution of a fish stock  MBIO-7 describe features of marine physiography which impact on the biological communities of local ecosystems

Pros  Maps of all of the Continents and major Oceans (Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Antarctic and Indian)  Often, both geophysical and geopolitical maps are available  Ocean depths and physical features such as ridges, trenches and seamounts are identified  Zoom tool so you can scan broadly or zoom in to get more detail of a particular area  Puzzles and maps of the day are also available

Cons  Elevation and depth data is somewhat limited  Resolution and detail is not as precise as Google Earth  Need to have Adobe Flash Player (which can be downloaded - free)  Would be nice to get a more detailed map of the North Atlantic Note: Canadian Marine Multibeam Bathymetric Data  No lesson plans are available – you would have to design activities yourself
