peace-preserving problem-preventing “Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, And he sins who hastens with his feet” (Prov. 19:2) myths justifying adulterous marriages Part 4b

Myths Justifying Adulterous Marriages 2.God hates divorce so therefore stay in the marriage you are currently in (Mal. 2:16) “Love the one you are with” Yet, “For the land is full of adulterers; For because of a curse the land mourns. The pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up. Their course of life is evil, And their might is not right” (Jer. 23:10)

Depart From Evil  “Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it” (Ps. 34:14)  “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate” (Prov. 8:13)  “A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil” (Prov. 13:19)  “Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it” (Ps. 34:14)  “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate” (Prov. 8:13)  “A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, But it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil” (Prov. 13:19)

 “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil” (Prov. 3:7)  “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul” (Prov. 16:17)  “Whoever rewards evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house” (Prov. 17:13)  “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil” (Prov. 3:7)  “The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul” (Prov. 16:17)  “Whoever rewards evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house” (Prov. 17:13) Depart From Evil

Myths Justifying Adulterous Marriages 3.baptism washes away all previous marriages

“It is not lawful for you!” “Just get baptized!” To a man who married another man’s wife?

Where Is Baptism “Repent” “Baptism” To a man who married another man’s wife?

Where Is Repentance “Sorrow” “Repentance” To a man who married another man’s wife? 2 Corinthians 7:9, 10

Sorrow for sin leads to the forgiveness of sins  Cannot “repent” without “sorrow”  Cannot be baptized without repentance Steal a CAR? Steal a WIFE?

Myths Justifying Adulterous Marriages 4.Marriage is something only those in the kingdom can do; therefore no one can come into the kingdom as an adulterer then no “couple” can come into the kingdom married! MUST be married the day they were baptized what about Christians “married” to non-Christians (1 Pet. 3:1; 1 Cor. 7:12-15)?

Golden Rule (Matt. 7:12) Respect & submit (Eph. 5:33, 1 Tim. 3:11) do not be idle (Prov. 31:27) use example over your tongue to persuade your husband (1 Pet. 3:1) bring happiness to your wife (Deut. 24:5) understand your wife (1 Pet. 3:7) spend alone time with your wife (Prov. 5:18) find, do, talk about things that bring joy (Eccl. 9:9) love your wife as the Lord does the church (Eph. 5:25)
