What is Designing? In Digital Technologies, designing is one step in a four-stage process of defining, designing, implementing and evaluating to create a digital solution. Designing is all about visualising and generating creative and innovative ideas.
What is Design Thinking? Design thinking – Involves the use of strategies for understanding design needs and opportunities, visualising and generating creative and innovative ideas, planning, and analysing and evaluating those ideas that best meet the criteria for success. Design thinking is all about understanding design problems and opportunities.
Designing in Primary In P-6 this could involve: designing digital solutions for personal, home or community based needs designing solutions using algorithms that involve decision making and user input using robotic toys to test possible approaches to navigate a map creating a storyboard for an interactive adventure game, story or animation designing a user interface for a digital system.
Designing in Secondary In 7-12 this could involve designing: Websites and mobile apps Real-world simulations Adventure games and animations Robotics programs User experiences
