New Business Development Also called “Access” for new workplace-giving campaigns

The best new workplace-giving campaigns come from existing business or personal relationships.

Access Definition and Award Policy The process of gaining the permission of an employer to solicit its employees during an employee campaign. Access Awards are granted to member groups and/or teams who assist EarthShare of Georgia in gaining access to a new workplace giving campaign. In November 2002, EarthShare of Georgia and its Board of Directors adopted the national Access Policy whereas, 50% of the undesignated money raised in the first year of the campaign is divided among team members, then 40% in year two and 30% in year three..

Access Process: Identify a Good Prospect Employer of at least 25 people (more donors, more $!) Sustainability program in place or in progress Headquartered in GA or able to start a campaign in GA

Access Process: Other Considerations Determine if your contact has access to a decision-maker. A company that already has a relationship with your organization is often the best choice. The Corporate Social Responsibility Manager is frequently the best contact.

Follow Access Procedures Check campaign partner list on EarthShare of Georgia’s website. If your prospect is not listed, contact ESGA to discuss the prospect and if you can be assigned to this access target. Provide information on your company target: 1) your contact’s title 2) company type and location, including headquarters 3) number of employees.

Sample Conversation Starter “John, We are very grateful for the support your company provides for (your organization). We are also a proud member group of EarthShare of Georgia, which provides a great way for your employees to get involved with (our organization). Would you be interested in learning more about ways they engage employees in Georgia’s environment?”

Benefits of an EarthShare of Georgia Workplace-Giving Campaign

Begin Opening Doors Continue the conversation about the benefits of your partnership with EarthShare of Georgia Ask for a meeting or call to discuss it further with an ESGA representative Suggest including a decision maker and person who handles corporate social responsibility in the meeting

Campaign Success! Meeting is a success and the employer agrees to start a campaign! The employer assigns an employee as the “campaign coordinator” to manage the campaign. The campaign coordinator and ESGA take it from there!

The Campaign Pledge to $ Cycle Employees donate typically during a 2-4 week period The employer collects all pledge information Campaign pledge results are sent to ESGA Actual funds are sent to ESGA monthly or quarterly Campaign event (Fall) kicks off the campaign
