Presentation transcript:

What is keeping you from stepping more deeply into the waters of your baptism, ready to join in God’s mission?

What keeps YOU from growing as a leader? (This is a real question to talk about) This is the road the Apostle Paul walked on from Philippi to Corinth.

Christian leadership is hope.

We can’t do everything but we can do something. We can listen.

Listen to God In prayer and scripture In each other In people in our neighborhood

Caring enough to listen crosses boundaries. Being fully present opens you up to hear God speaking.

4 Listening Activity Stick your neck out!

4 What did you hear? Were there any ah-ha God-moments?

Peter’s world was very different from ours. There was no such thing as “being Christian.” The early church was an unpopular sect in Judaism. The followers of Jesus were considered radical and even a threat to the Roman Empire.

Peter’s Vision Acts 10

Wondering about Peter’s transformation

Wondering about our own transformation listening to this scripture

Wondering about our congregation listening to this scripture

It’s not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It’s the one that is most adaptable to change. ---Charles Darwin Waytolead.org

O God you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
