Class Routines O In Y6 pupils are going for gold! (Olympics) O House points are awarded for good behaviour in class and around school. O We are very positive and we try to motivate with lots of praise rather than punish with consequences. O We have high expectations in terms of pupils’ work, attitude and behaviour. O A warning will be given and sanctions such as missing part of break, speaking to a member of the SLT etc.

Homework O Daily homework - Reading - Spellings - Times tables Please make sure reading books and logs and spelling/homework books are in everyday. Please sign your child’s log when they have read with you or discussed the book with you. Day Homework is sent home Day homework is due in Monday -NumeracyWednesday Wednesday - GrammarFriday Friday - SpellingThe following Thursday

It is essential for pupils to continue to practice their number bonds knowing them forwards and backwards (eg) 12+8=20 which is the same as 28-8=20 Key Stage 2 must continue to learn and practise the times tables. All tables expected known by the end of Year 4. All division facts expected to be known by end of Year 6. Reading daily doesn’t just improve pupils fluency and expression. Pupils also benefit from having well written stories modelled to them in terms of both composition and effect and also the correct grammatical conventions. By reading your child will also have the opportunity to read a range of genres which can reinforce what they have learnt about such genres in class.

Parent’s Evening O Individual parent’s evenings are twice a year. O At these meetings you will be able to discuss your child’s progress. O Teachers are available throughout the year if you feel you need to speak to them by making an appointment via the school office. O There will be a SATs and Ampleforth trip meeting at the beginning of the Spring term.

Going Home The children will be dismissed from the playground door. There are always 2 members of staff on the door to ensure all children are collected. Please remind your child if ever you (or whoever is picking them up) is late to stay with the staff. If any children are left by 3:45pm, whoever is on duty will take the child/children to the office and contact parents. Someone will stay with them until they are collected. If your child walks home please complete the form. If there is a change in your child’s usual routine please contact the office who will get the message to us.
