Google Wonders of the World Project Historic Center of Florence

Florence is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany. Cities and towns is the theme for Florence

History of my site: Florence Florence was founded in 59 BC In 1406, Pisa was captured by Florence, Florence gained direct access to the sea. In 1475, one of the best artist in the world was born, Michelangelo. In 1494, the surrender of Florence to Charles VII from France to Serzana. In 1944, Germans blow up all the bridges in Florence, Italy except Ponte Vecchio on August 4.

Intresting facts of Florence Florence in 59 BC as the retirement place for his veteran soldiers. The people that live in Florence are called the “Florentines.” “Firenze” is the Italian name for Florence Florence was the birthplace of the “Renaissance” and the “Athens of the Middle Ages.” Hitler said it was too beautiful to destroy Ponte Vecchio, which is the only bridge in Florence to have survived WWII intact.
