Temperature Measurement

Temperature Measurement As we have already seen there is more than one system of temperature measurement. There are occasions when we will need to convert one temperature to another.

Convert Celsius to Kelvin 0 degrees Celsius is equal to 273.15 degrees Kelvin: 0 °C = 273.15 K The temperature T in Kelvin (K) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Celsius (°C) plus 273.15: T(°C) = (T(°K) + 273.15) T(°K) = (T(°C) – 273.15)

Convert 20 degrees Celsius to Kelvin: T(K) = 20°C + 273.15 = 293.15 K Example Convert 20 degrees Celsius to Kelvin: T(K) = 20°C + 273.15 = 293.15 K 1. 45°C = ?°K 2. 100°K = ?°C 3. 35°C = ?°K 4. 0°K = ?°C

Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius Deduct 32, then multiply by 5, then divide by 9. E.g. 67 °F = ? °C (67 – 32) x 5 9 (35) x 5 175 = 19.444 °C

Questions Convert the following;- 105°F to °C 278°F to °C 0°F to °C

Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit Multiply by 9, then divide by 5, then add 32 E.g. 30 °C = ? °F 30 x 9 5 270 54 + 32 = 86 + 32 + 32 °F

Celsius to Fahrenheit Convert the following;- 100°C to °F 256°C to °F

Celsius to Kelvin Question 1. 45°C = ?°K 45°C + 273.15 = ?°K 45°C + 273.15 = 318.15°K

Celsius to Kelvin Question 2. 100°K = ?°C 100°K - 273.15 = ?°C 100°K - 273.15 = -173.15°C

Celsius to Kelvin Question 3. 35°C = ?°K 35°C + 273.15 = ?°K 35°C + 273.15 = 308.15°K

Celsius to Kelvin Question 4. 0°K = ?°C 0°K - 273.15 = ?°C 0°K - 273.15 = - 273.15°K

Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius Question 1. 105 °F = ? °C (105 – 32) x 5 9 (73) x 5 365 = 40.556°C

Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius Question 2. 278 °F = ? °C (278 – 32) x 5 9 (246) x 5 1230 = 136.6667°C

Convert Fahrenheit to Celsius Question 3. 0 °F = ? °C (0 – 32) x 5 9 (-32) x 5 -160 = -17.777°C

Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit Question 1. 100 °C = ? °F 100 x 9 5 900 180 + 32 = 212°F + 32 + 32

Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit Question 2. 256°C = ? °F 256 x 9 5 2304 460.8 + 32 = 492.8°F + 32 + 32

Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit Question 3. 0 °C = ? °F 0 x 9 5 0 + 32 = 32°F + 32 + 32
