A BROKEN ARM CASE BASED ACTIVITY  Groupings ~ select a spokesperson  Read the case from a collaboration perspective  Answer the discussion questions  Move on to the discussion points and then the research support  Please be prepared to share your group discussion and potential conclusions

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. List what you learned/know about each of the characters in the case. What do you think is motivating the thoughts/actions of each of the characters? 2. What are the issues/problems in the case? Discuss the common problems and issues faced in coteaching. What steps are required to establish successful co-teaching relationships? 3. When is it appropriate to make instructional modifications? Discuss techniques for modifying instructional methods and materials. What instructional modifications in spelling did Mary make for Jim? Were the modifications effective? Why or why not? 4. Discuss the importance and benefits of communication and collaboration which promotes interaction with students, parents, and school and community personnel.
