Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence Definition –Application is connected in the enterprise –Enterprise number is the primary number And it’s the only number that you have to give out And you could use your cell number for personal calls –Calls to/from the EFMC phone are carried over WiFi or Cellular depending on network quality –The EFMC phone uses a client that manages the call Signaling over WiFi, Cellular-Data, or Cellular Voice Audio over WiFi or Cellular Voice (3G - when supported by the carrier) Manages handoffs Provides GUI for cell and PBX features

EFMC Diagram EFMC Client Corporate Network

Organizational Challenges Business Case - Reduce Cost –Cell phone charges to/from the enterprise premise Route the calls over WiFi Studies suggest over half of business calls to/from an employee’s cell phone take place while on premise –Charges from FMC phones in the US to international Route the calls through the Enterprises’ trunks –Charges for calls to FMC phones in international countries Install a local SIM card while in the foreign country

Organizational Challenges Business Case - Increase Productivity –One Number – The Enterprise’s Number –One Voic –One GUI With Cellular and PBX features –IP-PBX call handling rules First Admin then CEO –Increase reachable

Organizational Challenges Synergy with IT management –Control of WiFi Network –Do not have to switch carriers –No carrier contracts to negotiate –Control of the PBX –Easy to deploy –Security Policy (VPN)

Avoiding the Bolt-On compromise Solution supported by the IP-PBX manufacturer Solution supported by the IP-PBX VAR/Dealer Solution supported on smart phones GUI based feature integration –Not feature access codes –Integrate cellular and PBX into the GUI PBX features

Address broad group of employees Work with a variety of carriers –Employees do not all share the same carrier Work with a variety of phones and OS’s –Choice of phone is very personal and driven by application

Variety Chart provided by Varaha

Conclusion Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence –Reduce costs –Increase productivity –Enterprise based application –One Number, one Voic , one GUI –Variety of OS’s, devices, carrier
