Presentation transcript:

Friendship We think Stanley and Zero had the best friendship. The most important thing in their friendship is they trust each other, and trust is the most important part of their friendship…like when they were stranded in the desert they had to trust each other to survive. They believe that they could reach the Big Thumb while they were stranded in the middle of no where. Stanley and Zero grew close while they where at Camp Green Lake digging holes and when Stanley started to teach Zero how to read and write, after Zero noticed Stanley ability to read and write to his mother.

Family Relationship Stanley’s family was poor but his parents were happy the way are. Zero didn’t have a family but he always remembered his mum when he was down. Stanley’s great grand father made a promise to Zeros great great grand mother to carry her up a mountain to drink from water and to sing to her too, he didn’t so the whole family got cursed untill one day Stanley carried Zero up the hill. And the curse was broken.

Nature The weather conditions at Camp Green Lake are very very hot. The climate has mainly been like this during the whole story. There is not much rain and the weather always stay the same. We don’t think Madame Zeroni’s curse had anything to do with the weather because Madame Zeroni did a curse on Stanleys family and at Camp Green Lake the other people aren’t a part of Stanleys family. If the curse did have something to do with the weather, it should only effect Stanley. The weather in Texas (in the book) is very different from the real Texas. Texas in the book is a very very hot place and the Normal Texas is not that hot. South Texas enjoys a tropical climate and in north Texas it often snows.

Racism and Prejudice There wasn’t much racism in the modern story line of the book, for example Zero, x-ray, armpit etc…are black while Stanley, Zig Zag, Squid etc… are white. There wasn’t much controversy between the boys only when the boys got jealous because Zero and Stanley had a deal which they didn’t know about, they thought “the white boy sits around while the black boy does all the work” said x-ray. Which brings us back to Kissin Kate Barlow and the Onion man Sam…because back then Black people had no rights and Sam kissed Kissin Kate Barlow and she was white.

Reptiles The yellow-spotted lizards played an important role in the book…for starters they killed Kissin Kate Barlow, which was the most popular lady around back then. They got Stanley and Zero trapped in the hole at the end of the book, but as hungry as they were they didn’t bite Zero or Stanley because of the onions they had been eating while they were staying on the Big Thumb. The yellow-spotted lizards are popular around Camp Green Lake because they liked the heat.
