#1. Follow people in our workshop, search for individuals you know and add them to your list by clicking on the plus sign.
#2. Tweet out your status, in 140 characters. #4 Retweet (RT) out another users status. #3 Mention another user still working on the slides for twitter PD, needing more screenshot for the PPT digipixie
#6 Mark a favorite message. #7 Perform a search, and save it. #5 Direct Message (DM) a mutual follower.
# What is a hashtag? # on Twitter? Powerful yet simple tool for tracking topics, communities, live events, or breaking news. They allow on-the-fly collaboration. Anyone on twitter can follow a # discussion, you do not need to follow each other. Great way to find a network of people with similar interests. #8 Post 2 tweets (either a question/comment/reflection/response) and include the #kttrain hashtag in your post.
Participating in a chat using our PLN #KTTRAIN, a hashtag created specifically for this training. This will model a chat and allow users to participate on a directed topic.

Privacy Settings TwitterTwitter is a social networking utility that lets you update your status, telling your contacts and possibly the entire world what you are doing. Posting Twitter updates publicly means: Your updates appear in Twitter’s public timeline — a flowing river of every member’s status. Anyone can see your Twitter updates. Your Twitter updates can be indexed by search engines. How to set your Twitter account to private In order to keep your Twitter activity private, follow these steps: Log into Twitter.Twitter Click “Settings” in the upper right corner of the screen.Settings Under the “Account” tab check off “Protect my updates”. Click the “Save” button. By protecting your updates, you remove them from the public timeline and hide them from anyone who you do not approve.
Twitter Terminology De-Friend: This is a common social networking term referring to the act of taking someone off of your friends list. De-Follow is a Twitter-specific version. Directy Message: A private tweet sent to one person, these individuals must mutually follow each other. Dweet: A tweet sent while experiencing impaired judgement. Fail Whale: Indication that the Twitter system is overcapacity. Hashtag: The community-driven practice of tagging an individual tweet by using a hash in front of the tag. Example: Putting #dallascowboys in a tweet about the Dallas Cowboys. Hashtags allow the community to easily stream a particular subject. Microblog: Twitter is often referred to as a microblog because it allows people to update their status using only 140 characters. Mistweet: Accidentally sending a tweet to the wrong person or wishing you didn't send a particular tweet. Dweets can often become Mistweets. Retweet (RT): A Retweet is a repeated tweet. It is sometimes used in a reply to allow everyone to see the original tweet. It is also used to forward a message onto one's own followers. Tweeps: Twitter followers who are your friends on multiple social networks. They are your social network peeps or posse. Tweet: A 140 character message sent via Twitter. Tweet Back: Bringing an older tweet back into the converstation Twitosphere: Twitter users or the community of tweeters. Twitpocalypse: The moment when the identification number of individual tweets surpassed the capacity of the most common data type. The Twitpocalypse crashed a number of Twitter clients. Often times, a "fail whale" will be identified. Twapplications: Twitter applications and Twitter mashups. Twitterphobe: Someone who is fearful or reluctant to join Twitter. Twitterphoria: Elation felt when someone you follow decides to follow you back. Twitterstream: The Twitter timeline. This can be applied to the public timeline, your friends' timeline or the timeline on a specific topic.
