GCSE Media Studies: Music Industry Practical Production We are learning to: Refine our desktop publishing skills. Produce a piece of realised production, using information from our analysis to help us. Evaluate our production work to justify design choices and audience appeal.

Success Criteria Level 6 I use independent and effective evidence of research and planning. My work shows flair and creativity. I use appropriate forms and conventions for my work. I present my material skilfully. I understand audiences are identified and how production is tailored to their needs and expectations. Level 5 I produce successful research and planning. My work is fit for purpose and uses many appropriate forms and conventions. I present my work effectively. I identify my audience and show how this information has shaped my ideas. Level 4 I produce appropriate research and planning. My ideas are apt and mostly employ appropriate forms and conventions. I present my material well. I am able to identify and target specific audiences. I show how this has informed my plans and ideas.

BRIEF FOR THE COURSEWORK: Your band/artiste are currently recording their debut album. Your role is to produce the promotional poster.

Band Fact file: What do you need to consider? Genre: what kind of music is it? Who is in the band/Who is the artiste? Names, ages, personalities? Who are your intended audience? – Create an audience profile. How should the band be represented to them? – Image (positive or negative). What codes and conventions you could use to make sure that your design appeals to your audience? Try some out and record them on your sheets. – Colour, font, image, title, layout.
