TODAY'S PAPER » NATIONAL » ANDHRA PRADESH VISAKHAPATNAM, March 10, 2014 BHEL funds cleft lip surgeries SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT The BHEL Power Sector Southern Region (BHEL-PSSR) has funded 25 cleft lip and palate surgeries. The cleft lip and palate surgeries were done by Smile Care Foundation and Research Institute here and the BHEL spent Rs lakh towards the surgeries as part of its CSR spending. BHEL Assistant General Manager RINL Vizag site T.K. Patnaik appreciated Smile Care Foundation for rendering yeoman services to the cleft lip and cleft palate patients and assured that BHEL PSSR would do more such CSR programmes to help the poor and needy, according to a statement issued here. Managing trustee of the foundation Yaratha Siva Nagendra Reddy explained the activities of the Foundation and said that his team of experts was always ready to do facial reconstruction and reintegrate children born with cleft lip into mainstream society. He thanked the donor BHEL PSSR for the grant. These patients were from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari districts. Doctors M.V. Reddy, E. Varun Kumar and CEO of the foundation Vinod Kumar participated in the programme at Cleft Centre in Durga Hospitals, Kancherapalem.
