Presentation transcript:

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

It’s easy to have an opinion when you are not required to kill or die for it. Less than 1% of the U.S. population serves in the armed forces combined

It’s easy to judge from the safety and comfort of your home.

The truth is… War has never been fair… U.S. Troop Casualties - 4,485 US troops; 54% of US casualties were under 25 years old. 72% were from the US Army US Troops Wounded - 32,219, 20% of which are serious brain or spinal injuries. (Total excludes psychological injuries.) US Troops with Serious Mental Health Problems - 30% of US troops develop serious mental health problems within 3 to 4 months of returning home

War has never been pretty… “Either war is obsolete, or men are” - Fuller

There is no music, popcorn, or soda in combat… A sheep dog protects the sheep, but the sheep do not like the sheep dog because he reminds them of the wolf.

To those who do not experience it first hand… be grateful that others are willing to take your place “Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it.”- Shaw The sheep would prefer the sheep dog to stay away until … the wolf comes. Then the sheep require of the sheep dog every effort to protect their way of life.

Be grateful that someone stands ready… "We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.“ - Churchill The sheep dog has the propensity for evil, he can defeat the wolf because he can become the wolf…

Someone who believes that their sacrifice is worth it… But the wolf is no friend of the sheep dog… And in truth… The sheep are no friend of the sheep dog…

A soldier does not have the luxury of deciding whether the reasons you sent him to fight for you are good enough… “All wars are popular for the first 30 days.” - Schlesinger

Sheep, wolves and sheep dogs… “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” – Patton
