10 Things I Learned At Camp Nurse New

1. You can never have too many pairs of socks. By the last day many of the campers (adults and children) had to wear “dirty” socks because they had changed their socks two to three times a day on the first few days.

2. If you don’t change your socks frequently you increase your risk for blisters.

3. Consider packing an extra T-Shirt or two. On the last day many of the campers had to choose between a long sleeve shirt and a dirty shirt.

4. The NISD dress code and rules of conduct apply to students and adults while at camp.

5. If you set your water bottle on your bed and the cap does not seal, you will have to sleep in a wet bed. If you eat snacks in your bed you will probably have ants for company.

6. Water bottles are not homing pigeons. If you loose it, it cannot find its way home.

7. Water bottles are not foot balls. If you play roughly with them they will not hold water.

8. Even some of the most responsible campers needed a backup water bottle.

9. The drinking water at camp tastes different from the water at home, but we still need to drink it if we want to be able to participate in activities, and not get sick.

10. If you do not drink water frequently, you will suffer. Headaches from dehydration, and stomach aches/cramping from drinking large amounts of water after going without were common.

10.(Continued) Take small frequent sips. The more strenuous the activity and the hotter the day, the more frequently you need to drink.
