Great Plains: The Sioux By: Kaitlin, Roshawnda, and Sam

Region and Environment They live in the Great Plains Some of the topographic features are treeless grassland with cold winters and hot summers. The natural resources are the animals that provided clothing and the river that provided food.

Food The Sioux hunt buffalo, deer, and elk. They eat berries, wild greens, camas roots, and prairie turnit.

Housing They live in teepees made of buffalo hides. In the summer the flaps open so they can get a nice breeze. In winter the flaps close to keep them warm.

History During the expedition the Sioux made trade with Lewis and Clark after Lewis and Clark meant no harm. The Battle of Wounded Knee.

Culture of the Tribe (Art & Way of Life) ART: They used wooden beads to decorate things in geometric patterns. WAY OF LIFE: The sun dance is a ceremony for the Native Americans. ome.ftl&np=%2Fwebresults.ftl&pp=%2Fwebresults.ftl&al=Elementary&query=native+americans+way+of+life&sear chType=IMAGE&limit=9&start=1&HOMEPAGE=E
