 Hermes was the Greek God of commerce  He was the son of Zeus, God of the sky and Maia, daughter of Atlas  He was the protector of travelers, thieves, athletes etc. Zeus, Maia and Hermes

 With his ability to move quickly between the world of man and the world of Gods, he was the messenger of the Gods  Hermes was the guide of the souls to the Underworld

 The caduceus symbolized Hermes and health  It was given to Hermes by Apollo and was originally a golden rod with two wings on the top  One day, Hermes separated two snakes that were in a fight using the caduceus  The snakes wrapped around the caduceus and suddenly stopped fighting and looked at each other peacefully  Hermes is well known for the caduceus

 Hermes was born in a cave on a mountain in Arcadia  The name Hermes comes from the Greek word ἑ ρμ ῆ ς herma  Hermes is called “Mercury” in Rome  He was known for many love affairs with mortals, goddesses and nymphs  He had 23 mates and 36 children  He didn’t have any full siblings but he had many half siblings  He wore a winged hat and winged sandals
