What is Photosynthesis? What is the Process? Goal: To use pictures and words to explain the following: a)What is photosynthesis? b)How does the process work?

What is Photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is a chemical process that uses light energy from the sun, carbon dioxide from organisms, and water from clouds so plants can give away oxygen that we need to breathe while making their own food (glucose/sugar)

Light Energy Light Energy Comes from the Sun!!!

Carbon Dioxide Carbon Dioxide is a gas that comes from organism. Humans breathe out carbon dioxide.

Water Water comes from clouds and gets into the roots of plants and travels up to the leaves and branches so they can get water!!

Chemical Reaction Light, Carbon Dioxide, and Water come together inside the leaves of plants. Proteins in plants cells have chlorophyll that bring in the energy from the sun which makes the chemical reaction take place!!

Sugar As a result of the chemical reaction, plants get sugar!! Yes, they make their own food!!! This gives them energy to live and grow!!

Oxygen The chemical reaction uses Carbon Dioxide. The oxygen that is part of the carbon dioxide is given off after the reaction. We get to breathe the oxygen!!!!
