HEALTH: CHAPTER 2, LESSON 2 BY: KLAIRE & AUDRA

SIMPLE STEPS TO GOOD DECISIONS When you use the six steps to make decisions, all your problems will be solved. When you know the real problem, you can begin to figure out what decision to make. The six steps are: 1. identify the problem. 2. Consider your values. 3. List the options. 4. Weigh the consequences. 5. decide, and act. 6. Evaluate your choice.

Values are beliefs that you consider to be of great importance. Good values include honesty and responsibility. Values come from you traditions, culture, background, and religion. Values help you develop a good character. Character is the way a person thinks, feels, and acts. Decisions based on good values almost always lead to good results.

Options help you solve problems. Options: one of the several choices that you can make. The best way to list all your options is by brainstorming. Brainstorming: thinking of all of the possible ways to carry out your decision.

When you are making a decision you should compare the consequences. You should choose the option that represents your values. Think about which option will bring the best consequences for you and others. No matter what option you choose, the best option is something that you have thought about and acted on with best intentions. Once you’ve acted on a decision, you should stand back and look at your results. You should ask yourself the following questions: Did I uphold my values? Do my parents approve of my choice? Do I feel good about my actions? If you are having a hard time making a decision, you can make a pros and cons list.
