Animal cell and Plant cell characteristics

Cell Facts All living things are composed of cells. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function of all living things. Cells are produced from other cells. Cells do everything from providing structure and stability to helping provide energy and means of reproduction.

Basic parts of a cell

are

Animal cell Plant cell Cell wall:NO cell wallPresent (formed of cellulose) Shape:Round (irregular shape) Rectangular (fixed shape) Vacuole: One or more small vacuoles (much smaller than plant cells). One, large central vacuole taking up 90% of cell volume. Centrioles:Present in all animal cells. Only present in lower plant forms. Chloroplast:NONEPlant cells have chloroplasts because they make their own food Plastids:NonePresent Plasma Membrane: cell membrane only cell wall and a cell membrane Lysosomes:Lysosomes occur in cytoplasm. Lysosomes usually not evident.
