Many young people have drank, or currently drink, alcohol. Almost every young person has friends or peers who drink alcohol, and many also have parents or other family members who drink. “Partying,” drinking socially with other young people, is considered “cool”. The media creates a lot of images of young people drinking and promotes drinking as being fun and popular, when in reality it leads to short and long term health risks, addiction, and even death.
Why shouldn’t teens drink? The punishment is severe: Teens put themselves at risk with the law. More likely to get into fights and commit crimes. More problems at school; trouble concentrating and getting good grades. Affects sport performance.
