Social Network Analysis Submitted by Christine A. Bevc, PhD, MA

What does this method measure? Event host’s connections, including partners and sponsors The size and span of the event host network The strength of connections between partners

 Identify the boundaries of the network  Develop the questionnaire  Identify outreach partners  Identify types of collaboration among outreach partners  Planning meetings  Exchange of information/ideas  Document nature and length of partnerships  Collect and analyze data How do you implement this method?  In-kind resources  Financial sponsorship Event partners Event host

How do you implement this method?  Event hosts (ego) identify organizational partners (alter)  Used to create an ego-network  Combined to create a whole network Event hosts Event partners

How might you use these findings? “Map” the connections within the Festival’s outreach network Better evaluate the reach of events and partnerships Identify possible new event hosts and targets for promotion

Final thoughts? Use of social network analysis…  Evaluates the breadth of event hosts, both within and beyond Festival events  Generates data on the connections that Festival events help to build in your area  Informs the broader STEM learning network Additional details and results will be available in Summer 2015 in a white paper and presentation
