Geometry Review

In this review, you will be asked to look at and determine the names of various geometric shapes. You will also be asked true/false questions based on geometry vocabulary. To begin, click the button on the lower left side of the screen.

What type of shape is the following? (Click on the letter) Equilateral Triangle Isoceles Triangle Scalene Triangle

Equilateral Triangle— Correct An equilateral triangle is a triangle with all three sides of equal length. An equilateral triangle also has three equal 60° angles.

Isosceles Triangle— Incorrect An isosceles triangle is a triangle with (at least) two equal sides.

Scalene Triangle—Incorrect A scalene triangle is a triangle with three unequal sides.

What type of shape is the following? (Click on the letter) Rhombus Trapezoid Parallelogram

Rhombus—Incorrect A rhombus is a quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel and all sides the same length.

Trapezoid—Correct A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with two sides parallel.

Parallelogram—Incorrect A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with opposite sides parallel (and therefore opposite angles equal).

T/F A triangle can contain more than one right angle (Click on the letter) True False

Incorrect A triangle cannot contain more than one right angle, since the sum of the two right angles plus the third angle would exceed the 180° total possessed by a triangle.

Correct A triangle cannot contain more than one right angle, since the sum of the two right angles plus the third angle would exceed the 180° total possessed by a triangle.

Which of the following shapes is not a rhombus? (Click on the letter) 1 cm 0.5 cm 4 cm.75 cm

Correct A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel and all sides the same length, i.e., an equilateral parallelogram. This figure does not have sides of the same length.

Incorrect A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel and all sides the same length, i.e., an equilateral parallelogram. This figure has opposite sides parallel and all sides the same length.
